Calling the Shots with a unique design

Finding the right drinks for your shoot day and other special occasions just got a little easier – and a whole lot more impressive – thanks to Shots and Company.

The new business, which has only been going just over a year, is set to return to The Game Fair this summer, having had a phenomenal response to its innovative and unique bottles of sloe gin and 10-year-old single malt whisky first time out.

Douglas Day, the brains behind the eye-catching shotgun cartridge-shaped bottles and their fine contents, drew on his background as a lifelong shooter to develop both… and the results so far have been spectacular.

Douglas explained: “We actually spent around six years perfecting our bottles to a point where we were happy to bring them to market. They had to be perfect, even down to the crimping at the bottom of the bottle.

“As a keen shot myself, I know how wonderful it is to have a great quality sloe gin for elevenses and a fine single malt at the end of the shoot day. This undoubtedly caused my epiphany, (probably in the middle of night), to produce an authentic, full-sized/ 70 cl. shotgun cartridge-shaped bottle.

“I set about designing one and looked no further than shotgun cartridges themselves as my inspiration. They are regarded by our customers as, effectively, decanters and are collectible too. Our initial sloe gin and single malt whisky fills are superb, and complement the unique, patented bottle design.

“The finishing touch is the embossed metal label, evocative of a hand-engraved shotgun side-plate. The results speak for themselves.”

Douglas dipped his toe in the water with the bottles at the East Anglian Game Fair last year before taking a stand at The Game Fair at Ragley Hall in July.

He added: “The response was fantastic – we were absolutely delighted by the interest.

“By the time we attended last November’s World Gunmakers Evening, it seems we had quite a following and we just continue to grow, both online and at country events. So we had no hesitation in signing up for this summer’s Game Fair, among others.”

Buoyed by its initial success, Shots and Company – based in rural Suffolk – is now looking at expanding its range but, more importantly, Douglas and his family team are looking forward to raising a glass at The Game Fair this summer!
