Gamekeepers set to show off gundogs at Crufts

Entries are now open for the gamekeepers’ classes at Crufts 2023, which are hosted by the British Association for Shooting and Conservation.
The classes are open to gamekeepers, owners of working gundogs, gundog teams and young handlers and will be held on Gundog Day, Thursday March 9th at the NEC in Birmingham. Postal entries close on January 9th and you can enter online until midnight on January 23rd.
The gamekeepers’ classes are deeply rooted in the history of Crufts and BASC is proud to continue this strong tradition.
The top individual dogs will go head-to-head in the main arena for the ‘Best in Gamekeeping Class’ title, with the overall winner being presented with the prestigious Northesk Memorial Trophy.
Glynn Evans, BASC’s head of game and wildlife management, said: “Crufts provides a window through which the wider world can see working dogs on a global stage. Crufts is the biggest dog show in the world and BASC’s rings at the event allow us to showcase how special working dogs are to tens of thousands of visitors.
“Whether you’re a regular competitor at Crufts or a first timer still thinking about taking part, I would encourage anyone with a working gundog to enter the BASC gamekeepers’ classes. The event is a wonderful occasion and an opportunity to celebrate the history of these wonderful animals whilst ensuring their future.”
