Could you be BASC’s Head of Firearms?
The British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), the largest shooting organisation in the UK, is on the hunt for a new Head of Firearms.
Serving a wide variety of stakeholder and public interests. BASC acts as a representative body for sporting shooting, fostering opportunity, safety, high standards and wildlife conservation.
It is looking for a confident and enthusiastic professional to protect the right of individuals to use hunting, sporting and heritage firearms within the UK, give accurate advice and guidance to members on all aspects of firearms and ammunition – practical, legal and technical – manage the national activity and technical capability of BASC firearms officers and contribute to the political promotion and defence of the private ownership and use of firearms.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Detailed experience of firearms and related legislation
- Prior knowledge and experience of working within relevant and associated sectors
- An ability to provide a high standard of service to customers within a similar environment
- The skill set needed to work with firearms officers to monitor firearms licensing practices
- A professional method required to represent BASC at external meetings with key stakeholders
Working within the firearms team, this role reports to the Director of Firearms. With the day-to-day management of firearms officers devolved to countries and regions, the Head of Firearms manages the national work of firearms officers and ensures the development of their technical and professional capability.
BASC is flexible about where this role is based but there will be some travel and you will be expected to work from its head office in Rossett on occasions.
It comes with a starting salary of c. £40,000.
