The Game Fair 2024 at Blenheim Palace saw angling charities helping each other, as bumper attendances brought visitors in their droves to the Get Into Fishing Village.
Each year, angling charities are invited to attend The Game Fair – the festival of the great British countryside – to talk about their work, meet other anglers and, in some cases, sell donated tackle.
The English Disabled Fly Fishers (EDFF) once again enjoyed a successful show and, in turn, have donated a percentage of their proceeds, amounting to £290, to one of The Game Fair’s official charities for 2024, Tackling Minds.
Tackling Minds and its volunteer staff and coaches use fishing as a way of helping people with a wide range of issues, most notably mental health and was selected as a Game Fair official charities earlier this year,
Shaun Higgins from EDFF explained his group “works to take the ‘dis’ out of disability through the art of fly fishing.”
He added: “We all really enjoyed our time at The Game Fair and look forward to being there again next year at Ragley Hall.”
Nestled beside the river in the beautiful grounds of Oxfordshire’s Blenheim Palace, the Get Into Fishing village welcomed tens of thousands of would-be and experienced anglers alike in what was the busiest show for a decade.
Alongside celebrity demonstrations on the river and talks in the dedicated Landing Stage fishing theatre, there were trade exhibitors, competitions, fly tying and casting tuition, artists, book signings more, all designed encourage all aspects of the sport.
