Set beside the beautiful estate lake at Ragley Hall, you’ll be able to get your fill of all things fishy – from demos and have-a-go events to celebrity guests, tuition, competitions and the latest gear plus some brilliant association stands.

Fly Tying and Fly Casting

Ever tried tying your own flies? The Fly Dressers’ Guild and Turrall team will be on hand to teach you, if not, while artist Steve McCracken will be helping youngsters create their own fish paintings

If you prefer to get more hands on and cast a line yourself then Fly Fishers International instructors will be showing you how to improve your fly casting technique, either on land or on the water.

Have A Go

Want to catch your first fish or pick up some tips? Then the Angling Trades Association’s Get Into Fishing initiative is the best way to start.Canal & River Trust coaches will be on hand to help you fish the estate lake. Will you catch roach, gudgeon, bream, perch or one of the lake’s resident carp?

Orvis at The Game Fair

Join fly fishing giant Orvis in the Fishing Village, where their experts will be showcasing everything you need to get started on your fly casting journey – or take your skills to the next level.

The Landing Stage Theatre

Head to the Landing Stage Fishing Theatre where you can pose fishing questions to some of our many guests, watch the latest fishing films, get your old fishing line recycled and turned into new tackle with the Anglers’ National Line Recycling Scheme team. Lake Demonstrations

Whatever type of fishing you enjoy, you shouldn’t miss the Demo Pontoon on the lake. Top anglers including Hywel Morgan, Scott Mackenzie, Jo Stephenson and many more will be showcasing their skills and offering some sagely wisdom. Fly Fishing Film Tour

This year, visitors to The Game Fair will be able to experience the Fly Fishing Film Tour, the world’s leading fly fishing film festival. The film will be shown live on the big screen at the Fishing Village. Find Out More

Competitions 

BFCC Casting Competitions

If you feel your casting skills are already strong then why not take part in the dedicated competitions at the end of the lake. The British Fly Casting Club (BFCC) will once again be running daily single- and double-handed distance competitions – for men, women and juniors (under 18).  Find out more

Castspro Bait Casting Competition

If you fancy the chance of winning a splendid trophy and some cash then David Ballington and his Castspro team will be beside the lake, too, running some fantastic competitions – both on land and in the water.
