A summer of celebration at The Game Fair
Coming hot on the heels of the expected ’unlocking’ of the country on July 19, The Game Fair looks set to be the perfect time to celebrate a return to normality and enjoy all that the great British countryside has to offer.
That’s the message from the whole Game Fair team – many of whom have already been on site at Ragley Hall, Warwickshire, for the past week or two, installing the vital infrastructure and the stands, ready to welcome valued exhibitors and visitors alike.
As the show begins to build, so too does the excitement, following Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s press conference on Monday, where he revealed that almost all Covid restrictions would be lifted on July 19th, subject to confirmation this coming Monday, July 12th.
In his Downing Street address, he said: “If we can’t reopen our society in the next few weeks, when we will be helped with the arrival of summer and school holidays… then when will we be able to return to normal?”
He added: “We will remove all legal limits on the numbers meeting indoors and outdoors and end the 1m-plus rule on social distancing and the legal obligation to wear a face covering.
“There will be no Covid certificate required as a condition of entry to any venue or event, although businesses and events can certainly make use of certification and the NHS app is one way of showing your Covid status.”
The lifting of restrictions had been postponed for four weeks from the initial date of June 21st, because of concerns over the Delta variant.
The Game Fair’s managing director, James Gower, welcomed the news: “As our team begin to move on site and set everything up for our event on July 23rd to 25th, there is a real sense of celebration that things are returning to normal and we can join our friends and countryside colleagues for a fantastic summer weekend.
“We simply can’t wait to welcome exhibitors and visitors, old and new, to the stunning setting of Ragley Hall – it’s the perfect backdrop to enjoy all that our countryside and the businesses that thrive in it have to offer.”
