The countryside community has come together to back British Game Assurance (BGA) Director of Operations, Louisa Clutterbuck who has just returned from a trip helping those in need in Ukraine.

She was overwhelmed by support for her Countryside Ukraine Appeal and received more than 100 bin bags and boxes full of winter clothing, which she sorted through and vacuum packed.

In January, Louisa travelled to southeast Ukraine to deliver the warm coats, jumpers and thermals donated by the shooting community, staying just 75 miles from the frontline, where she distributed medical aid and winter clothing to displaced children, military contacts and British volunteers.

On top of this she also donated an L200 truck to the Ukranian army to be used as a military vehicle.

Whilst there, temperatures were as harsh as -16 degrees Celsius, with a wind chill of -27 degrees Celsius. Many who remain there fighting are unable to stay within civilian housing so are having to brave the elements living in holes in the ground to remain unseen.

British Game Assurance (BGA) is a not-for-profit organisation that promotes, develops and assures the production and consumption of gamebird meat.

Louisa said: “It was harrowing to see the level of pain and suffering in Ukraine, made worse by the freezing cold that they are having to endure there; families are being torn apart and people are surviving on the bare minimum.

“I am so grateful to every member of the shooting community who donated warm clothing and essentials to keep the people going. I aim to return to Ukraine shortly and welcome any further financial or vehicle related donations you are able to give.”

More trucks are needed and donations are still welcome as the war in Ukraine continues. In particular, the BGA is looking for another L200 or any good, working tyres of parts.
