Bronze business continues to set the standard

Moving with the times is something all businesses need to do in order to survive but for Guernsey-based Avant Garden it has helped it find new and exciting markets for its bronzes, furniture and furnishings.
Initially set up as a charming shop on the Channel Island, Avant Garden embraced the world of technology and, almost 25 years later, has established a significant national and international online presence.
Faced with changing customer tastes and attitudes towards buying methods, Nick Martel realised his retail outlet had to develop and respond quickly.
Today, a visit to his website will allow you to explore a top quality range of exquisite items including fine cast bronze garden sculptures, interior furnishings such as luxury beanbags and sheepskin covers not to mention some truly special gifts, from hand carved-birds to stunning wall art.
Naturally, though, with such a strong retail background, Nick ensures that all come with the highest standard of service, from start to finish.
It’s a unique business founded on Nick’s wealth of knowledge and expertise, which means he is adept at advising every customer on what would work well in their homes or gardens.
Nick explained: “We pride ourselves on establishing long-lasting relationships with our customers built on honesty, reliability and the wisdom that our products will stand the test of time and be a key fixture in their lives for many, many years to come.”
His story has been featured in countless publications, perhaps the most significant recently was in the official commemorative album to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant last year.
The editorial feature told the story of both Nick and Avant Garden, exploring his life and work in Guernsey and how he transformed and grew the business. He was even able to attend the book’s launch event last June, which he felt helped to bring the creative sector back to the forefront of people’s minds.
Nick added: “This year is going to be exciting as well as I’ve now been invited to be part of two more special official commemorative albums – ‘Strive for Excellence: 20 years of Rolls Royce at Goodwood’ in October, not to mention ‘HRH King Charles III at 75’ in November.”
You can see some of Avant Garden’s eye-catching and exquisite sculptures and furniture at The Game Fair at Ragley Hall this summer.
