Exhibitors sign up for World Gunmakers’ Evening
Key names are already planning what they will be showcasing at this November’s World Gunmakers’ Evening, set to take place in the historic setting of the Tower Of London.
Among those who have already pledged their support are James Purdey & Sons, shooting supplier William Powell, Longthorne Gunmakers, Edgar Brothers, German rifle maker Karl Hauptmann, round-action Scottish gunmaker John Dickson & Son and cigar specialist Robusto House.
The World Gunmakers’ Evening will bring together discerning clientele and some of best and most exclusive gunmakers and associated suppliers on the evening of Wednesday, November 3rd in a unique atmosphere and location – the Tower of London.
Andrew Ambrose from London gunmaker James Purdey & Sons said: “From our perspective, there are several reasons we are exhibiting at this event and they are all the same reasons as to why we have exhibited every year since the launch of this unique event. The event brings together the entire gunmaking industry here in the UK as well as a selection of gunmakers from abroad and it is that appeal that ensures it entices a large and varied audience. In addition the event format ensures that the focus is completely on the gun or rifle where it can be lost at other events.”
Elaine Stewart from English gunmaker Longthorne said: “We will be taking the opportunity to display the latest ‘Trigger Plate Range’, which incorporates a unique patented barrel technology ensuring negligible felt recoil and muzzle flip, configured for game or sporting clays. This range complements the existing collection of bespoke true sidelock guns. We look forward to sharing an enjoyable evening with you all.”
Scotland’s oldest gunmaking house, John Dickson &B Son, incorporates the famous Scottish gun and rifle making firms of John Dickson and Son, James MacNaughton & Sons, Daniel Fraser, Alex Martin, Alexander Henry and Mortimer & Son.
Managing director Jean-Pierre Daschler said: “We will be displaying a selection of new guns and rifles including the Dickson Round-Action, built on the Dickson patent triggerplate design that we have been building since 1880, the MacNaughton ‘Skeleton’ gun built on the MacNaughton patent triggerplate design that we have been building since 1879 and the bolt-action rifles from Daniel Fraser that we have introduced in 2021.
“The team will be on hand to discuss any aspects of a new gun or rifle build and repair and restoration work for any of the vintage Scottish gun making names we own.”
Sharon Kimberlin at cigar specialist Robusto House added: “Since we opened at The Goodwood Revival in 2007, Robusto House has gained a great reputation for selling a wonderful selection of the world’s best cigars. We now attend all of England’s most prestigious events including Royal Ascot, The Derby, Goodwood’s events and Henley Regatta and Festival.
“Our elegant cigar sommeliers have become a feature at the country’s top race meetings. Simon Selkin is always pleased to take you through the wonderful Robusto House selection of the world’s best cigars. And, if you don’t already have a favourite cigar, he will help you choose the right cigar for you.”
The organisers have also confirmed a deal with The Tower Hotel for rooms overnight, which also includes a special day parking rate.
