Jimmy Doherty, Broadcaster, Farmer and Founder of Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park will be showcasing his dedication to British farming and food when he hosts the VIP Enclosure, sponsored by Rathbones at The Game Fair, to be held at Ragley Hall, 25-27 July. Jimmy will lead on designing the menu which will include ingredients grown locally to the venue and celebrate the huge variety the British countryside has to offer.
Alongside him, keeping an eye on the drinks, is Merlin Griffiths, returning to The Game Fair again as our favourite mixologist. Featuring cocktails sponsored by R.M. Williams, Merlin will be crafting bespoke creations exclusive to this special event – guaranteed to elevate the VIP experience! What a heavenly mix of food and drink that this pair will conjure up at the UK’s largest celebration of the countryside.
Jimmy started out on his farming journey back in 2002, when Jimmy and his wife Michaela first set eyes on Pannington Hall Farm and dreamt of a full restoration, returning the totally derelict site back to a fully working, thriving livestock farm. In 2003, a BBC2 series called ‘Jimmy’s Farm’ followed his escapades and endeavours and soon the farm became a destination for tourists and locals alike. Since then, it’s developed beyond any wildest dream. Jimmy’s Farm is now home to a wildlife park, award winning restaurant, wedding venue, vegetable and flower gardens, a farm shop and holds numerous science and food festivals throughout the year.
Looking forward to The Game Fair in July, Jimmy commented, “What a truly amazing event The Game Fair is, it represents so much that I love about being a farmer and a foodie. I intend to bring some absolutely delicious food to the plates and palates of our diners, mixing up the flavours while always staying true to the land and the bounty it provides.”
Merlin Griffiths, who has been a rural pub owner for more than 15 years agreed wholeheartedly, “Having experienced The Game Fair last year for the first time, returning for more is an absolute no-brainer for me. I really couldn’t pick a better place to be, soaking up the sun, observing the great characters who we meet at The Game Fair and putting together some cocktails and mocktails unique to the event. Additionally, getting to share these recipes in the demonstration kitchen with everybody is always a joy.”
James Gower, Managing Director at The Game Fair added, “I think Jimmy and Merlin have said it all really. The Game Fair is such a true celebration of the great British countryside in all its guises. Come and see for yourself, I’m looking forward to welcoming visitors to the VIP Enclosure, sponsored by Rathbones this summer at Ragley Hall.”
