Hilary Roper-Newman is an artist, author and illustrator, who will be showcasing her game-related artwork and her books at this year’s Game Fair. The UK’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), is calling on the Government to utilise the resources and experience of recreational deer stalkers within its newly actioned deer management strategy. The deer management strategy was unveiled as part of the England Trees Action Plan in a suite of announcements made by the Environment Secretary, George Eustice MP last week. The Gun Trade Association has reminded shooting retailers that firearms licensing departments will be issuing new-style certificates from May 7th, with additional requirements. The main change is that the certificates now require the ‘unique identifying mark’ to be recorded, rather than just the serial number. At the same time, where one of the relevant component parts has a non-matching mark, that too should be recorded. For example, where a bolt has been replaced on a rifle, the unique identifying mark of that bolt should also be listed on the certificate.
